Black, gold or wood-tone? Choosing handle finishes that last

Handles are the jewellery of furniture. Here is how to pick a finish that suits the space and stands up to daily use.

Black, gold or wood-tone? Choosing handle finishes that last

Matte black suits dark and stone-look kitchens and hides fingerprints well. Brushed gold adds warmth to deep greens, blues and walnut, and looks best used consistently across a room. Wood-tone and leather-effect pulls soften minimal, handle-heavy wardrobes.

Match length to door size: long profile handles emphasise height on tall units, while short pulls or knobs keep base cabinets calm. For handle-less looks, edge profiles and recessed pulls give grip without breaking the line.

Americano handles are available in coordinated finishes and lengths, so kitchens, wardrobes and storage can share one detail.
